International Senior Lawyers Project joined with Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) and ROLE UK to launch Guidance on Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation Defence in Southern Africa, a resource designed to share practical expertise to empower those challenging “lawfare” techniques used to intimidate and silence investigative journalists and others seeking to surface information in the public interest. Developed in collaboration with media freedom defenders and legal experts, the resource provides practical guidance for lawyers, journalists, and other stakeholders, particularly those in southern Africa, interested in learning about SLAPP litigation and related legal considerations. The initiative received financial and technical support from Advocates for International Development’s ROLE UK programme and UK Aid.
