Responsible Technology Initiative
The rapid advance of technology and data solutions presents opportunities to address key development challenges such as climate change, inclusion, equity, governance, and human rights. However, ethical and regulatory considerations surrounding adoption of these solutions also present significant challenges.
ISLP’s Responsible Technology Initiative, led by Gordon Myers, who brings more than 35 years of experience in corporate and technology representation, will undertake a wide range of matters relating to technology, digitalization, and trust. For example, ISLP will advise governments, civil society organizations, and social enterprises on technology-related legal issues, including the rights of Indigenous communities in AI and biodiversity solutions; reform of national intellectual property, data, privacy, and cybersecurity laws; digital assets-, intellectual property-, and other intangibles-based financing; and, where appropriate, strategic and transactional support for technology-forward social enterprises and impact investors. The initiative may also support other ISLP focus areas – such as media law, social finance, and tax – that are increasingly required to address technology and data implications.
We welcome interest and suggestions from our partner law firms, including those that may wish to consider ISLP engagement. We also welcome inquiries and expressions of interest from academics, donors, development organizations, government agencies, investors, and fund managers who may wish to partner with, support, and draw on ISLP’s Responsible Technology efforts.
