International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP) inaugurated a new collaboration to support the work of the Coal Asset Transition Accelerator (CATA) with a webinar on fundamentals of power purchase agreement. CATA is a consortium that supports coal-fired power plant owners in developing practical mechanisms to accelerate the coal transition including scoping, designing and deploying transactions. The webinar, the first in an upcoming series, was presented by ISLP volunteers Olivier Chambord and Allison Soilihi from Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, with moderation by George Mowles-Van Der Gaag of The Carbon Trust,
The capacity-building series is designed for asset owners, CATA technical assistance providers, think tanks, transaction advisers, civil society organisations and other CATA stakeholders working on coal-to-clean energy transitions. Later installments will look at navigating aspects of power purchase agreements across diverse legal and market contexts, including negotiation strategies and safeguards. The series is being developed by ISLP and Carbon Trust in partnership with Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, Latham & Watkins, Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and Hogan Lovells Cadwalader.
