International Senior Lawyers Project in collaboration with the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) brought together members of the Zambian legal community to consider the use of arbitration in resolving technology and intellectual property disputes. Featuring Valerie Kawangua and Chewe Chilufya of LAZ and Mathew Bate and Charlotte Monroe of Winston & Strawn, the session explored emerging global trends, practical strategies, and the growing impact of AI and other digital innovations on dispute resolution practice. The session convened Zambian lawyers, judiciary officers, arbitrators, and dispute resolution practitioners for a dynamic and globally informed conversation on the evolving role of arbitration in technology-driven disputes. Drawing on regional and international experience, the panelists examined how arbitration offers a flexible, confidential, and efficient mechanism for addressing such disputes, particularly where technical expertise and enforceability across jurisdictions are critical. The discussion also highlighted strategic opportunities for Zambia’s legal community to strengthen its arbitration capacity, enhance technological competence, and position itself competitively within the global dispute resolution landscape.
