In February 2020, Richard Winfield was invited to be the keynote speaker at the February conference of the European Parliament at which MEPS, NGOs, Moroccan Lawyers, and the press were in attendance.
He delivered a presentation on ISLP Media Law trial observers’ report of the Hirak El-Rif trials. This report provides observations of the appellate proceedings at the Court of Appeals in Casablanca and evaluates their compliance with fair trial guarantees prescribed under international human rights law.
