Last week The Carter Center published the first part of “A State Affair: Privatizing Congo’s Copper Sector”, a comprehensive report on the contractual and financial practices of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s state-owned mining company, Gécamines, and its most important investment partners. Marietta Cauchi, former co-head of the ISLP Media Law Working Group, worked for the last two years on a pre-publication review of the report. The report can be found here.

The Carter Center, in partnership with Emory University, is guided by a fundamental commitment to human rights and the alleviation of human suffering. It seeks to prevent and resolve conflicts, enhance freedom and democracy, and improve health.
